Nassau Humane Society takes pride in being a no-kill shelter. Last year, we joyfully placed 97% of the pawsome animals in our care into loving homes.

But we can't do it alone as the rest are still here waiting - and more are on the way sadly.

It costs us nearly $5,000 every day to care for the almost 150 animals that rely on us every day at the shelter. Your generous support is vital in helping us provide food, medical care, and shelter for these deserving pets.

Lucky and Smudge were saved.

Lucky was next on the euthanasia list from a kill shelter when we rescued her. She stayed with us for 182 before finding her furever home. There are so many misconceptions about dogs like Lucky and we are so happy a wonderful family now calls her their own.

Smudge was with us a whopping 320 days before a loving soul fostered him. He is blind, old and arthritic and will be on medicine for the rest of his life. With our support, his new foster can make sure that Smudge has the warm snuggles he deserves from a comfy sofa instead of the shelter.
